The Stigma of Mental Illness Radio

Ali Boehm will be my guest this Thursday on ‘The Stigma of Mental Illness Radio’. She is an advocate for families of individuals who suffer with Bipolar Disorder. She has a captivating story and truly exemplifies the amount of love and acceptance families can strive for upon learning and knowing someone close to them suffers with a mental illness. Thursday, August 8th 2013 from 3-4pm MST on cosmicbroadcasting.com

The National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) presented their inaugural Friends and Fundraiser on May 10, 2011.  It was held at the Antlers Hilton, in Colorado Springs, CO.  The theme of the meeting was ‘Rewriting the Story’ and was based on the book, Louie’s Saxophone, written by Trevor J Boehm.  The story was read aloud by poet laureate David Mason and performed by the students of the Colorado Springs Conservatory.

We are deeply grateful to the Boehm family for sharing Trevor’s story.  Their courage inspires us to continue rewriting the story of mental illness in our community.
